The Gujarat State Election Commission has officially declared the Gujarat Gram Panchayat Election 2025 schedule. As per the announcement, elections will be held on June 22, 2025, across 8,326 Gram Panchayats in the state. The vote counting date is set for June 25, 2025.

Gram Panchayat Elections – Scope and Voter Turnout
Out of the total elections:
- 4,688 are regular Gram Panchayat elections

An estimated 1.3 crore registered voters will cast their votes using traditional ballot boxes, as Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will not be used. Over 16,500 polling booths will be set up with proper security arrangements.
Background – Reservation Policy and Legal Challenges
These elections were delayed earlier due to legal challenges involving OBC reservation in local body elections. The Gujarat government proposed increasing OBC reservation from 10% to 27%, which led to the creation of the Zaveri Commission and legal reforms. With these issues resolved, the election process is now proceeding smoothly.
